THE SHADOW LEGACY:
DISCOVERY OF THE DARK STAR
By Shadowhawk
Many strange things have happened in Limbo Galaxy, but not as strange
as one event leads that will change everything in an instant. The SilverHawks
made an effort to serve the law and stop Mon*Star and his intergalactic Mob
from wreaking havoc all over Limbo, and joining the Mob’s ranks was a SilverHawk
Academy dropout named Kumo Kagetaka, renamed Shadowhawk. Time and time again,
the SilverHawks stopped Mon*Star’s plans. But the events on this day may
prepare the SilverHawks for their ultimate test.
Patrolling in a space cruiser, a couple of pilots were relaxing
until the lookout spotted something unimaginable a giant black star that
almost resembles a black hole, but the star was intact.
“Captain,” said the navigator. “We got big trouble! This may seem
weird, but we’re passing over a black hole with a star still standing!”
“A black hole that still has a star formed?” replied the captain.
“That is odd. Well, don’t just stand there! Radio the SilverHawks ASAP!”
While the crew were radioing Hawk Haven, Skyshadow, Mon*Star’s
robot spy sent the image of the star back to Brim*Star. Inside the fortress,
Mon*Star looks on with Shadowhawk at his side studies the image Skyshadow
projected.
“What kind of star is this?” Mon*Star wondered. “They said it’s
a black hole, but the star is still there! I want to know what it is!”
Shadowhawk studied the picture as well. “Maybe,” he said, “it’s
like a twisted version of the Moon*Star. I think I’ll call it ‘the Dark*Star
of Limbo!’ Catchy name, isn’t it, Mon*Star?”
“Well,” grumbled the space tyrant. “I’m entrusting YOU to go at
this alone, Shadowhawk! Bring that star back to me in one piece or suffer
the consequences for failing me!”
“Yes sir, Mon*Star!” saluted Shadowhawk and was about to leave
but Mon*Star used his Light*Star to hold Shadowhawk up and bring him closer
to him.
“And if I find you AWOL during your missions, Shadowhawk,” he
warned the rogue SilverHawk. “You’ll be taking a PERMANENT vacation in the
Abyss!”
Afterwards, Mon*Star released the Light*Star and Shadowhawk went
into the Nightmare with Erebus and took off towards what he called the Dark*Star
of Limbo.
Meanwhile, back at Hawk Haven, Commander Stargazer was putting
away past files of cases involving the Mob, but mostly about Shadowhawk.
It seems that every mission Mon*Star has, he sends Shadowhawk out to do everything.
“That Mon*Star is going too far,” gruffly said Stargazer. “We’ve
got damages up to our necks thanks to that one-man Mob machine Shadowhawk!”
Just then, his daughter Aurora and her husband Starlight came into his office.
“Dad, is something wrong?” asked Aurora. “You seem worried.”
“It’s Shadowhawk,” he answered. “You know how much damage that
one renegade Hawk has caused?”
“About 250,000,000 Limbo Dollars worth,” replied Starlight. “And
that was on his first assignment.”
“And if that’s not trouble enough,” continued the Commander. “Skylord
came back with footage of an unusual star that’s crossed with a black hole
or something. You can bet Shadowhawk will be there.”
“I’m on it, Dad, I mean, Commander!” acknowledged Aurora. “I’ll
have the entire Gold Team out to stop Shadowhawk!”
“Just be careful, Aurora,” warned Stargazer. “Shadowhawk’s one
man, but he’s very dangerous!”
In the barracks of Hawk Haven, the SilverHawks Blue Team was heading
out on patrol in Bedlama, while the Gold Team was relaxing awaiting their
assignment. Even during the shooting rooms, instead of the usual Mob targets,
they now have many targets with ONE likeness: Shadowhawk’s. And just like
that, the alarm sounded throughout Hawk Haven.
“Attention, SilverHawks!” ordered Aurora. “We got a Priority Alpha
mission! A strange star has surfaced somewhere in Limbo and Shadowhawk is
after it.”
“That rogue never quits!” coldly said Quicksilver. “If he’s after
that star for some reason, we must stop him!”
“Yeah,” agreed Steel Will. “He’s going 4th and Long on this play
for Mon*Star. If he scores with that star, it’ll be overtime for us!”
“Shadowhawk is nothing but a pain in the butt ever since he came
to Limbo,” grumbled Steel Heart. “And he’ll be a bigger pain if we don’t
stop him now!”
“For once we agree on something, Emily,” replied Skyedansuer.
“The rogue must go, and go down hard!”
Within minutes, the SilverHawks were preparing for flight as Aurora,
the Steel Twins and Quicksilver went into the release hatches of the Maraj
while Bluegrass is in the cockpit. Starlight is taking the Sprinthawk and
the Copper Kid is in his Space Racer, as all the Hawks get ready for action.
“All systems go,” reported Bluegrass. “Everyone, ready?”
“All ready,” everyone said.
“Then, let’s fly!” the cowboy answered. And off took the Maraj,
the Sprinthawk and the Space Racer in that order after Shadowhawk.
Meanwhile, near the star’s location is Shadowhawk himself trying
to find out how to take this thing back to Mon*Star without damaging it.
“This one’s a toughie,” he thought. “How am I going to get this
back to Mon*Star? I can’t grow like Mumbo. Everyone will spot me.” He thought
about his strategy while unbeknownst to him, someone that Shadowhawk encountered
lays in wait. Hovering over in the Hellcat was Meilin Mao who was just out
patrolling until she saw Shadowhawk.
“What’s Yingyao doing here?” wondered the young Chinese yakuza
princess. “What’s he doing near that star? Well, whatever reason, he’s coming
with me, even if I have to DRAG him away from Mon*Star!”
Also circling Shadowhawk, hidden from view, was Skyshadow keeping
an extra eye on the rogue SilverHawk. Ever since his unannounced vacation
on Bedlama, Mon*Star has been running Shadowhawk ragged, training him to
be more of a weapon then a mere human. Although Shadowhawk has all the Mob’s
powers, he’s still young. But now, all that matters is getting that star
back to Brim*Star.
“I got it! The perfect idea!” thought Shadowhawk. I’ll become
a cage and trap it from within!”
When he transformed into a cage, he tried to trap it, but the
gravity was too much and Shadowhawk had to transform back to his normal state.
Erebus, Shadowhawk’s pet raven, was waving to him in the cockpit of the Nightmare,
a dark version of the Sprinthawk with cloaking technology.
“That’s a tough situation, boss,” worried Erebus. “You can’t touch
it and you can’t trap it.”
“And I can’t destroy it, either!” added Shadowhawk. “Orders from
the boss himself. What am I going to do?”
“If there was some way you can get all that energy,” pondered
Erebus, “without getting pulled in by that star’s dense gravity.”
“Maybe there is a way, and I know some people who can help!” stated
Shadowhawk and planned to radio the Mob for help. “Sauronus! Uranos! Come
in!”
Cruising around in the Wicked Zoomer was Hardware and Windhammer,
looking for anything to do. Then, Hardware picks up Shadowhawk’s transmission.
“Hardware here,” the big reptilian grunted. “What’s the deal,
Shadowhawk? And don’t use my real name, OK?!”
“Whatever, Sauronus,” retorted Shadowhawk. “I’m having trouble
collecting that star for Mon*Star. The gravity is too strong for me to trap
it!”
“There must be something you can do!” boomed Hardware.
“There just might be!” exclaimed Shadowhawk. “But for that to
work, I’ll need you and Uranos to get the Amber Amplifier from the Artificial
Sun!”
“Here we go again,” moaned Hardware.
“Been there, done that, Shadowhawk,” added Windhammer. “I used
that energy gun on Tempestra before. Why need it now?”
“I’m using it on the Nightmare to make an anti-gravity beam and
tow the star back.”
This shocked Windhammer and Hardware, knowing if something goes
wrong, Shadowhawk might not make it out alive. And if Shadowhawk does go
down, Mon*Star will be most furious to lose his best soldier.
“Are you MAD, Kumo?!” excitedly growled Hardware. “If anything
happens to you, Mon*Star will have us fried!”
“If you are going to do this, Kumo,” noted Windhammer, “you’d
better promise to make it out alive!”
“Thanks, Uranos,” nodded Shadowhawk. “I’ll make modifications
on the Nightmare. Just bring that Amber Amplifier to me ASAP.”
Both Hardware and Windhammer acknowledged and headed for the Artificial
Sun to take the Amber Amplifier to help power-up the Nightmare.
With Skyshadow in the air, Mon*Star heard every word that Shadowhawk
said and he didn’t like it one bit.
“What can he be thinking?!” bellowed Mon*Star. “Shadowhawk is
doing something very risky that even I object to it! Yes-Man!”
“Yes, boss,” groveled his snake-man lackey, Yes-Man. “What can
I do for you, boss?”
“Prepare the Transformation Chamber!” ordered Mon*Star. “I’m gonna
personally teach Shadowhawk a lesson about risk-taking in the Mob!”
“Transformation,” replied Yes-Man. “Yes, boss. Right away, boss.”
Mon*Star sat on his throne as Yes-Man worked the controls of the
fortress of Brim*Star. The Moon*Star’s radiation reached into the star-like
opening of the planet and shines into the fortress as Mon*Star begins to
absorb the rays.
“Moon*Star of Limbo…” chants Mon*Star as he slowly begins to power-
up. “…Give me the might…the muscle…the menace…of MON*STAR!”
After the rays die down, Mon*Star changed from mutated demon to
armored monster and Skyrunner, Mon*Star’s giant squid is armored for battle
as Mon*Star headed out from Brim*Star.
“Forward, Skyrunner!” ordered Mon*Star, shooting his Star Rifle
in the air. “Shadowhawk cannot go through with this plan, not if I have anything
to say about it!”
Mon*Star is hotheaded as well as quick-tempered. Should Shadowhawk
try this chance, there’s a 50-50 chance it’ll backfire and then again, it
might work. But for Mon*Star, any risky chance is one he does not take lightly.
Hardware and Windhammer had reached the Artificial Sun in hopes
of retrieving the Amber Amplifier for a third time, but this time it was
for Shadowhawk’s use.
“We’re at the Artificial Sun, Windy,” grunted Hardware. “It’s
time to do your thing.”
“With pleasure, Hardware,” replied the storm giant. “I’ll blanket
out the Artificial Sun with a space fog bank! That will give us cover for
Phase Two!”
Banging his giant tuning fork on the wings of the Wicked Zoomer,
Windhammer makes a giant fog clouding over the Artificial Sun. Inside the
control room, Professor Power, who was busy controlling the Sun, sees this
unnatural weather phenomenon occurring outside.
“That’s no ordinary fog bank,” deduced the Professor. “That’s
Windhammer’s work! The Mob’s up to something!” Without haste, he radioed
Hawk Haven. “This is Professor Power calling the SilverHawks! The Mob’s at
the Artificial Sun! Hurry!”
Back at Hawk Haven, Stargazer got the report from the Artificial
Sun, but there were big problems. The Blue Team’s on Bedlama and the Gold
Team is after Shadowhawk. All that’s left is the Red Team consisting of the
Jewel Hawks, Goldstar and the Firefly.
“This is Stargazer, Professor,” he answered. “Almost all the Hawks
are out on patrol, but I’ll send the Red Team to assist you.”
Stargazer summoned the Red Team into his office and addressed
them about the current situation with all the SilverHawks.
“As you must know,” he stated. “The Blue Team is out on patrol
in Bedlama while the Gold Team is investigating a strange star with tremendous
power that caught the eyes of Mon*Star and Shadowhawk.”
“Shadowhawk, that Academy reject?” snapped Firefly. “I heard he’s
gone extra-powerful these days.”
“And I remembered,” added Sapphire, “that there’s someone out
to capture Shadowhawk, but not for his head.”
“Meilin Mao!” squawked Chatterbox, Sapphire’s parrot. “Meilin
Mao love Shadowhawk, she love him long-time!”
“Whatever the case,” ordered Stargazer. “Stop the Mob from whatever
they’re doing and fast!”
“You heard the Commander, SilverHawks,” noted Diamond. “Let’s
fly!” And off went the Red Team out towards the Artificial Sun to stop Windhammer
and Hardware.
Elsewhere near the Dark*Star, Shadowhawk is making adjustments
to the Nightmare with Erebus hovering over him.
“So when we get the Amber Amplifier, what will you do with it,
Kumo- chan?” wondered Erebus.
“I’m planning to harness its energy into my blaster,” explained
Shadowhawk, “and use it like a towing cable and haul this thing back to Brim*Star.
I just hope the gravity from that star doesn’t pull us in, too.”
“And you know Mon*Star,” warned Erebus. “If we screw up, and we
somehow come back alive, we’re dead ducks anyway.”
“Hopefully, that’s not gonna happen,” Shadowhawk said. “We’re
gonna be heroes and get back on the good side of that overbearing tyrant.
Just keep an eye out for any SilverHawk or anybody that gets in our way.”
“Right, boss man!” happily cawed Erebus and flew off to scout
around the area while Shadowhawk continues to work on the Nightmare.
At a few 10,000 Limbo miles away from the Dark*Star was the Maraj,
Sprinthawk and Space Racer staying within the speed law but going as fast
as ever to intercept Shadowhawk before he takes the Dark*Star.
“Heads up, SilverHawks,” spoke Bluegrass. “We’re about half an
hour away from having a showdown with that hombre Shadowhawk. So it’s do
or die time.”
“We’ll be ready, Michael,” smiled Skyedansuer. “It’s high time
we settled this score with that turncoat!”
“Just don’t get carried away, Krysten,” retorted Steel Heart.
“If this is the final showdown with Shadowhawk, you have to be careful, for
your sake…and for the cowboy’s sake.”
“Thanks, Emily,” replied a shocked Skyedansuer. “I’ll do my best.”
“Let’s hope once we get on the field,” added Steel Will, “that
there are no interference patterns, particularly from Meilin Mao and Mon*Star.”
“We’ll be ready for them should they show up,” stated Aurora.
“And we’ll strike hard. So be on alert, Hawks!”
Upon saying that, all the SilverHawks vehicles headed towards
the Dark*Star and Shadowhawk, but at the same time Mon*Star is also planning
to meet with Shadowhawk, but the meeting is beyond mutual.
“You want to take risks, Shadowhawk?” boomed Mon*Star. “I’ll give
you all the risk-taking you can handle, by surviving my wrath!” Then he made
Skyrunner move faster and to eliminate any obstacle in Mon*Star’s way to
get to Shadowhawk.
“Forward, Skyrunner!” ordered Mon*Star. “Shadowhawk awaits!”
Meanwhile, back at the Artificial Sun, Windhammer and Hardware
snuck under the cover of fog and took the Amber Amplifier away.
“We got what we came for,” spoke Windhammer. “Now let’s get out
of here and head towards Shadowhawk’s location!”
“I’ll cover you, Windy!” said Hardware, holding his guns in the
air. “Let’s see if stealing this thing for the third time will pay off for
us!”
Outside of the Artificial Sun, surrounding the Wicked Zoomer is
the SilverHawks Red Team waiting to ambush the Mob as soon as they got out.
“As soon as Hardware and Windhammer step out,” ordered Diamond.
“We’ll attack, but don’t damage anything valuable, including lives.”
“Copy that, Diamond Girl,” replied Sapphire, as she, Firefly and
Diamond were pointing their lasers at the Wicked Zoomer. But something was
buzzing over the Red Team’s heads: Melodia and Yes-Man in the Limbo Limo
blasting away at the Red Team.
“Your road session’s been canceled, SilverHawks!” shrieked the
music vixen. “We’re playing through!”
“Let’s hope this buys Shadowhawk some time, Melodia,” said a concerned
Yes-Man. “With Mon*Star hunting him down, he’ll need all the time he can.”
“And don’t forget Meilin Mao, the Wild Cat of Apollo!” added Melodia.
“She’s still after him for her reasons, too! But now, we’ve gotta cover Windy
and Hardware’s escape!”
Diamond had no other choice but to attack the Limbo Limo. Sapphire
and Firefly joined in, but not before Sapphire had Chatterbox place a tracer
on the Wicked Zoomer in secret.
Within time, Hardware and Windhammer went into the Wicked Zoomer
and took off towards Shadowhawk’s location. At the same time, the Limbo Limo
headed back to Brim*Star. The Red Team was almost disappointed but clever
thinking from Sapphire’s part has a trace on the Wicked Zoomer.
“Excellent plan, Sapphire,” smiled Diamond. “Now we’ll see why
those two goons wanted the Amplifier in the first place.”
“Thanks, Diamond,” replied Sapphire. “It’s nothing we can’t handle.”
Within seconds, Sapphire turned on the tracking device and was
ready to follow it to their location. They radioed Stargazer to let them
know about a late-breaking robbery at the Artificial Sun.
“The Amber Amplifier again?” questioned the commander. “Why would
the Mob want to try to steal that again? Haven’t they learned by now?”
“With the Mob,” quoted Firefly. “They never learn anything.”
“Well,” added Stargazer, “see where Windhammer and Hardware are
taking the Amplifier and don’t let the Mob know you’re tailing them.”
Unaware that Hardware’s Wicked Zoomer had a tracking device, he
and Windhammer radioed Shadowhawk near the Dark*Star’s entrance.
“Hey, Kumo,” reported Hardware. “We got the Amplifier as we said.
We’re heading for your location as planned!”
“Make sure you aren’t followed, Sauronus,” warned Shadowhawk.
“Those SilverHawks are very crafty and may have bugged something with a tracer.”
“If we are bugged,” added Windhammer, “it won’t make any difference
whatsoever. Just be careful with that Amplifier, Shadowhawk.”
“That’s a big 10-4, Uranos,” complied Shadowhawk. “Just turn up
the juice on the Zoomer and come meet me on the other side!”
“Will do, Shadowhawk!” laughed Hardware as he steps on the gas
and pushed the Wicked Zoomer forward and faster towards Shadowhawk’s location.
Back at Hawk Haven, the Blue Team returned after their patrol
on Bedlama and was looking around for the other SilverHawks. Finally they
headed towards Stargazer’s office.
Hotwing, Flashback, Moonstriker and Condor were lined up at the
Commander’s desk as the Commander himself turned around in his chair.
“Blue Team is back from patrol, Commander,” reported Hotwing.
“No major incidents on Bedlama.”
“Hey, where is everybody?” wondered Moonstriker. “It’s like a
ghost town here!”
“Every SilverHawk is on the trail of Shadowhawk,” replied Stargazer.
“There was a report of a new star that caught the eye of Mon*Star and sent
Shadowhawk to retrieve it.”
“That figures,” gruffed Condor. “Always Shadowhawk. That Hawk
on the take has gone too far this time.”
“Well, Blue Team,” ordered Stargazer, “meet up with the Gold and
Red Teams at their location. We’ll finally put an end to Shadowhawk’s evil
once and for all!”
In saying so, the Blue Team were taking off from Hawk Haven and
were heading towards Shadowhawk’s location to join the other SilverHawks
stationed there. But elsewhere rapidly approaching Shadowhawk first was Mon*Star
and Skyrunner who has his eyes set on the prize: the new Dark*Star and Shadowhawk’s
head on a silver platter!
Shadowhawk was still waiting at the new Dark*Star with Erebus
and the custom-made Nightmare ready to tow the Dark*Star back to Brim*Star.
Erebus is keeping a watchful eye on any approaching vehicles that might cause
problems, and as he does, one vehicle is quickly rendezvousing at Shadowhawk’s
location.
“Kumo-chan, we got company!” squawked Erebus. “I think it’s Hardware
and Windhammer back from the Artificial Sun.”
“Let me take a look for myself,” wondered Shadowhawk and looked
into his radar. It wasn’t the Wicked Zoomer, but it was something that shook
him up.
“That’s not the Zoomer,” cried Shadowhawk. “It’s the Hellcat!
Meilin Mao’s here, but why now?! Why when I’m THIS CLOSE?!”
“Don’t ask me,” Erebus replied. “She’s got a crush on YOU, remember?”
“Don’t remind me,” whined the rogue SilverHawk. The Hellcat finally
landed near the Nightmare and Mao was wearing her favorite dress, the one
she wore when Shadowhawk first infiltrated Apollo Red: the crime syndicate
Mao was a part of on Automata.
“NIHAO, YINGYAO!” squealed the Chinese yakuza princess in delight.
“I’ve come from a long way to take you back to me.”
This was all Shadowhawk can stand, but he was still clever and
had to think of something fast. “Meilin,” angrily stated Shadowhawk, “I’ve
got a dangerous star here surrounded by a black hole! If you get trapped
inside, I might never see you again! Now get out of here!”
This shocked the young princess more than ever. “You want me to
leave?” sighed Mao. “You don’t love me?”
“I told you,” loudly spoken Shadowhawk. “I DON’T want you to get
hurt!! I never said I didn’t love you, Meilin!”
Tears finally swollen and came down Mao’s face. They were both
tears of anguish and joy. She gave a big hug to Shadowhawk and then left
for the Hellcat with a final warning: “All that I’m saying is, come back
alive, Yingyao.”
Shadowhawk gave a salute to Meilin Mao as she started to head
off, but that yakuza girl was clever. She put a tracer on Shadowhawk just
in case. As the Hellcat departed farther away from the Dark*Star, the Wicked
Zoomer arrives at the Dark*Star with the Amber Amplifier.
“Here’s the prize, Kumo-chan!” said Windhammer tossing the Amplifier
to Shadowhawk. “We’ll be on Fense if you need us.”
“Thanks, Uranos,” waved Shadowhawk. “Save a Sini-Star Special
for me!” As Shadowhawk was working on the Nightmare, the Wicked Zoomer took
off for Fense.
Unknowingly, the Red Team was still on the Zoomer’s trail with
the tracking device and Sapphire was at the controls. She saw something very
interesting as the Zoomer departed.
“Diamond,” she said. “The tracer stopped before, now it’s heading
towards Fense.”
“What was the last location before the Zoomer changed course?”
asked Diamond.
Sapphire checked and the results were quite interesting. “It was
near the location of that new star,” she replied. “I think that’s where we’ll
find the big prize!”
“That’s news for me,” declared Firefly. “Time to ruffle Shadowhawk’s
feathers!”
Within moments, the Red Team met up with the Blue Team and both
were ready to join the Gold Team to stop Shadowhawk, but getting closer to
Shadowhawk was Mon*Star and Skyrunner and nothing’s standing in his way.
Meanwhile, Shadowhawk was just ready to install the Amber Amplifier
in the belly of the Nightmare as Erebus watched him.
“Remember, birdbrain,” joked Erebus, “Plus matches minus, not
plus matches plus.”
“I KNOW THAT, Erebus!” shouted Shadowhawk. “It’s like one of the
batteries back on Earth! I’m not going to make the same mistake Sauronus
made when he FIRST stole the Amplifier!”
“You don’t have to yell my head off, Kumo-chan,” Erebus complained.
Upon Erebus’ words, Shadowhawk installed the Amplifier into the
Nightmare and completes the special tractor beam needed to tow the Dark*Star
away.
“It’s done!” declared Shadowhawk as he hops into the cockpit of
the Nightmare with Erebus following him. “Now, let’s put it in traction!”
“Let ’er RIP, Kumo-chan!” squawked Erebus.
Shadowhawk turned on the power and a tractor beam got a hold of
the Dark*Star just as he predicted.
“It works!” he said excitedly. “My tractor beam works! Now to
head to Brim*Star!”
But before Shadowhawk can turn, Mon*Star finally caught up to
the Nightmare and was aiming his Star Rifle at the young rogue.
“Hold it, Shadowhawk!” boomed Mon*Star. “You have some explaining
to do right now!”
Shadowhawk opened the cockpit and went out to face Mon*Star while
Erebus was working the Nightmare’s controls. “What do you mean by that?”
questioned Shadowhawk. “I stayed put like you told me!”
“You were putting your life in danger, Shadowhawk,” continued
Mon*Star. “YOU are my #1 agent in the Mob and I’m not going to lose you to
this new star! So hand it over!”
Shadowhawk knew there was distrust in Mon*Star’s monstrous voice,
so he did what no other Mobster did: he stood up to the space tyrant. “I’M
your best man on the job, you low-life mutant!” Shadowhawk venomously shouted.
“YOU of ALL people should TRUST ME more! I’ve broken my back for you for
over 3 years and for what? Nothing! Well, I’m taking over, Mon*Star the Planet
Master!”
“Is that a threat, Shadowhawk?” accused Mon*Star. “I made you
who you are today and I can UNMAKE you as quick as lightning!”
This had Shadowhawk boiling mad. “Erebus, tow the Dark*Star away
somewhere!” ordered Shadowhawk. “It’s time I’d settled the score!”
“Be careful, Kumo-chan,” sighed Erebus as he worked his wings
to the tractor beam controls and began to tow the Dark*Star away.
During that time, Mon*Star and Shadowhawk were about to do battle,
but something else interrupted them. Both the space tyrant and the shadowy
warrior looked behind them and right before their eyes were the Maraj, the
Sprinthawk, the Space Racer, and the Blue and Red Teams all having their
eyes set on the two most wanted criminals in Limbo.
“THE SILVERHAWKS!” growled Mon*Star. He looked at Shadowhawk and
gruffly called a temporary truce. “We’ll finish this another time, Shadowhawk.
Right now, we’ve got bigger fish to fry!”
“Fine by me,” reluctantly agreed Shadowhawk and began to combat
the SilverHawks as Erebus was monitoring the situation.
On the Maraj, Bluegrass was at the controls and caught a glimpse
of the Nightmare.
“OK, SilverHawks,” radioed the Colonel. “We’ve got Shadowhawk
and Mon*Star surrounded. Starlight, the Kid and I are gonna round up the
Nightmare. Shadowhawk’s pet bird is piloting the gosh-darn thing.”
“Good luck, rawhide,” commented Quicksilver. “It’s high time both
Mon*Star and Shadowhawk serve long hard Limbo Years in the Penal Planet.”
“OK, Hawks,” noted Steel Will. “It’s the final play of the season!
Let’s score the big touchdown!”
“Shadowhawk, it’s time we took you down for keeps!” said Steel
Heart and Skyedansuer synchronically.
Bluegrass released the SilverHawks in the Maraj and headed towards
the Nightmare with Starlight in the Sprinthawk and the Copper Kid on the
Space Racer. Such a thing has not gone unnoticed by Shadowhawk and radioed
Erebus.
“Erebus, three SilverHawk vehicles are on you!” he warned. “Stay
alert!”
Erebus checked the radar and sure enough there were the SilverHawks
on his trail. “Oh, great!” moaned Erebus. “Now I have to play Dodge ’Em to
survive!”
While Erebus was trying to dodge the SilverHawks’ vehicles, Mon*Star
and Shadowhawk were trying to dodge the SilverHawks themselves.
Each of the SilverHawks’ lasers and blasts from both Mon*Star
and Shadowhawk were causing some disturbance in Limbo Space and is making
the Dark*Star grow at an alarming rate. Erebus, fearing for his life disconnected
the tractor beam and flew to aid Shadowhawk in his time of need, for at that
moment, Shadowhawk and Mon*Star were surrounded by SilverHawks all having
their lasers armed and ready.
“It’s over, Mon*Star,” declared Quicksilver. “You finally lost!
This goes double for you too, Shadowhawk!”
Things looked grim for Mon*Star and Shadowhawk just as the SilverHawks
were ready to turn them in, but before they did, the Limbo Limo shown up
along with the Hellcat and shot lasers at the SilverHawks.
“Scatter!” ordered Quicksilver. Every last SilverHawk had to scatter
to get out of the way of the Limbo Limo and the Hellcat.
Inside the Limbo Limo were Yes-Man, Melodia, Buzzsaw and Zero
and in the Hellcat was of course Meilin Mao. Both were not what Mon*Star
and Shadowhawk were expecting.
“What is the meaning of this?!” grumbled Mon*Star. “I did not
request any assistance!”
“We saw the SilverHawks corner you,” explained Melodia. “And we
thought you can use some help.”
This made Mon*Star angrier than usual and got into Melodia’s face.
“When I WANT assistance,” he snarled, “I’ll DEMAND IT!”
On the other side, Shadowhawk was confused, but he was grateful.
“Even after I warned her to stay away, Meilin Mao saved me. Guess there is
some honor among thieves after all.”
Erebus returned to Shadowhawk with the Nightmare and some bad
news about the Dark*Star.
“Kumo-chan, it’s awful!” Erebus spattered as he almost ran out
of breath. “The Dark*Star is expanding out of control!”
“The Dark*Star’s growing?!” yelled Shadowhawk. “As if things weren’t
bad enough! Disconnect the Amplifier to the Nightmare and hang on! We’re
gonna blast that star to smithereens!”
Mon*Star then turned to Shadowhawk and rammed Skyrunner into the
Nightmare. “There’s still SilverHawks to deal with, but I still have a score
to settle with you, Shadowhawk!”
Before Mon*Star can ever harm Shadowhawk, the Hellcat came in
and fired her lasers at Skyrunner causing the giant squid to buck out of
control and Mon*Star to hang on so he don’t fall off.
“Did I just see something,” wondered Skyedansuer,” or did someone
actually save Shadowhawk’s sorry life?”
“You weren’t seeing things, Krysten,” said Steel Heart. “That
was Meilin Mao alright.”
Mon*Star was fed up and while holding onto Skyrunner blasted the
Hellcat with his Star Rifle. “That will teach you to interfere with my business,
Wild Cat of Apollo!” laughed Mon*Star.
The blast from the Star Rifle caused the Hellcat to spin out of
control and towards the Dark*Star. The blast also caused the directional
controls to malfunction.
“Ai-YAH!” screamed Meilin Mao. “I’m about to fall in!”
At the last moment, something came towards the Hellcat and pushed
it out of the path of the Dark*Star, but not before it was pulled in by the
star’s intense gravity. Looking out her window, the SilverHawks and the Mob
scattered away to fight another day.
“I’m spared, but who saved me from black hole?” wondered the young
yakuza princess. But as she looked where the Dark*Star was, it was the Nightmare
without the Amber Amplifier being pulled into the center of the Dark*Star.
“AI-YAH!!!! NO!!!” Mao cried. “AILEN! YINGYAO! DON’T LEAVE ME!”
But it was too late. The Dark*Star collapsed on the Nightmare
taking Shadowhawk and Erebus with it. Meilin cried heavily losing the one
person she truly loved more than even the syndicate. With her tears of agony,
she made a loud statement very clear.
“Mon*Star! SilverHawks!” screamed out Meilin Mao in rage. “I’ll
see to it you’ll PAY for this miscarriage of justice! You taken my woude
ailen away from me! Now, you’ll pay the ULTIMATE PRICE!”
As the Hellcat headed off to get more supplies from Automata,
something else came out of the Dark*Star. It was 15 feet tall, dark and dangerously
evil. A giant metallic hawk-man mutant came soaring out of the Dark*Star
with a giant metallic hybrid of a raven and a falcon.
“MON*STAR!!!” the hawk-man growled. “YOU’LL PAY FOR YOUR TREACHERY!”
This ominous beast also wears some amulet, but it was a necklace
once belonging to Cherri “Berri” Hasua, the Mimian idol singer, which draws
to one simple conclusion: Shadowhawk and Erebus are alive, but thanks to
the Dark*Star, they’re more dangerous than ever before and putting everyone
in Limbo on notice.
