What's New

February, 2005 -- Where has the year gone?  Good question, and the answer is long, personal, and boring to anyone not directly involved.  Suffice it to say that your resident host is back, with broadband access and FTP capabilities again.  Special thanks to Chajo for the suggestion (Passive FTP is a wonderful thing), and Blackhawk and LRS for always having an open ear.  Welcome back to Detia, who has her own RL going well, or so I hear (Send me more "Happy," girl!) and KM, who has broken out the art supplies again.

The promised Inuyasha is up, though it isn't quite what I had in mind.  There will be more as it's finished, as usual.  I also have SilverHawks art and fic waiting in the wings (heh), so there will probably more little adjustments as the month wears on.

So far:
There will be more.  Life is a balancing act, but I think I have the tightrope under me now.

Merry met again, my friends...

February, 2004 -- Sorry for the slight delay with this month's update, folks.  Had to reformat a hard drive (not the drive with all teh data for the site, fortunately) and managed to lose my FTP program in the process.  Wah!  So it's been a finding and learning game, getting thigs back together, but it should be good now.

Two new fics this month (Yay!) and some retooling of other things.  Links have been updated and changed.  New favorite,  Hero in the 21st Century, is listed in the Anime Links section.
No new Inu-Yasha yet, darn it.  But I'm working on it, uh, them.  Well, you get the picture.

Ja mata...  --LMH

January, 2004 -- Well, another year, and were still here, for the most part.  Our most sincere condolences to the victims of the December quakes.  (LRS and I were close enough to the San Simeon quake to REALLY feel it.  Ugh.)  Funny how two earthduakes so similar in nature can have such devastatingly different results.  It really makes you think.

However, life, for the most part, goes on, and so do we...

No new fics this month, but a comple of updates...
In addition, Kristine Batey's "Hero in the 21st Century" has most of Book 14 posted.  This one's a lulu, and I can't reccommend it, and the whole series, strongly enough. (Shameless plug: My second Kagome Challenge fic, "Take Two," is active there as well.  Check it out.)

Next month (or when I get enough stuff to do something), who knows?  More Inuyasha, I hope, and possibly Lady Razorsharp's latest Cowboy Bebop fic-in-progress, Beyond Beautiful.  We'll just have to see...

Ja ne... --LMH

November, 2003 -- Don't even bother asking where I've been the last couple of months.  It's just been a 'One thing or another' few weeks. And the Muses have taken an extended vacation, or so it seems...  At any rate, the arrangment from August seemed really easy, so we'll go with it again.

New/Updated fic:
Ja mata, minna! --LMH

August, 2003 -- Well, the Dog-Days of summer are here again.  Not to mention intermittent thunderstorms.  So for my sanity (and the safty of my system) we'll keep this brief...

New/updated fic:
New art:
From Lady Razorsharp:
  • "Wake Me Up"
  • Mad Machine
  • Sexy Fujiko
From Brenna:
  • Vash the Stampede

See You Next Time, Folks...  --LMH

July, 2003 -- "What's up, sweetcakes?  Whose hip, anyway?"

Mega-props to LRS for her eagle-eye, catching Cowboy Bebop playing locally last month (finally!)  Lots of fun cheering on the erstwhile gang on the big-screen.  And the English-language DVD has some terrific extras.  And the best way to get more anime in America is to support the producers with $$$.
Public-service announcement over, on to the new stuff.  Anime seems to be the by-word of the moment, with the latest chapter of "Handmaiden" by Lady Razorsharp, and Brenna's still tormenting poor Zenigata over in the Other Anime Section.  Brenna's stuff is up to her usual spicy standards, so be warned now.
Kristi's been hard at work as well, art pad in one hand and writing in the other.  Trouble is brewing again for the Silverhawks in "One of Those Days," and she has sent in two new pics as well, the first of Jamie, Melodia and Mon-Star's son from the Misadventures, and a great scene from Camiel and Sh'Ekrah's wedding.   Both are available in her gallery.
Coming next month, well, who knows.  More Inu-Yasha, hopefully.  Time will tell.  Ja mata... --LMH

June, 2003 -- So it was May where there was no update.  To tell the truth, there was, but it was just a few images, and I was feeling pretty lazy, so I let it go.  They're still there, so you can just enjoy them now.  :)

Speaking of images, we have a LOT.  Kristi has returned to drawing with a vengeance and sent in three new pics from her universe, so we have two new Boomer pics, and Fantasy's been back to the drawing board yet again.  Lady Razorsharp has been busy as well, both in the art department and at the keyboard, and the Prologue and Chapter 1 for The Handmaiden are up.  Roger Smith is looking for answers to his past, but he may not like what he finds.  Kate R. and Shadowhawk have been busy at the keyboards as well, and we have Genesis Part 7, "Live All You Can," and "The Shadow Legacy Part 2: Yakuza Rising" up in the Guest Author section.  Brenna's hot on the trail of Zenigata and the gentleman thief Lupin over in her Gallery.  These shots are not for the shy or underaged, however, so view responsibly (and at your own risk.)  And I've been burning a little midnight oil of my own, thanks to a hefty helping of inspiration from "The Hero in the 21st Century."  My response to Bachan's Sesshoumaru Challenge is up in the Inu Yasha section.  See what Fluffy's been getting himself into.  You know it cant' be too good.  He's a demon, after all.

See you next month, all.  Ja ne... --LMH

April, 2003 -- Nope, no update.

April Fool's.  Sorry.  Couldn't resist.  I can't help but think we need a little levity right now, what with the world in the shape it is.  I have a lot of thoughts on the UN, Iraq, Saddam Hussein, the war etc. which I will refrain from boring/infuriating everyone with.  Safe to say, though, that I am hoping with everyone for the safe return of our soldiers and sailors stationed in all parts of the world.  I love you guys.  You are the BEST!

Okay, rambling finished, it's a short update this month.  The promised housekeeping has occured, but the files remain resident on my personal machine.  Antyhing that's gone and someone still wants, e-mail and I'll send it along.  More images moved to the Annex.  Head on over there if there's anything you're dying to look at.  What's new is all about anime.  New Inu Yasha section (it had to happen; never finished that many stories so fast in my LIFE) New Bebop fic from Raze, Reflection, based on RaverKomono's doujinshi over at Space Cowgirl Radical Edward.  Terrific stuff, but with spoilers, so beware.  Brenna's been hit hard by the Lupin bug, and has sent in a great little love/angst fic, Soul Searching.  Yaoi, so consider yourself warned now. (m/m pairing, for those not up on the lingo)  Also two great pics to go along with it in her gallery.  Again, yaoi, but nothing graphic.
Nothing much new, other than that.  Oh, and be sure to check in often to LRS's Unfinished Metropolis, and see what goes on in her head.  See you next month.  --LMH

March, 2003 -- This is usually the space where I make some pithy comment about the month to come, but all I can think is please, let it be a quiet month.

There's plenty of new stuff this month in she Shadowspace, however.  "Love and Laughter: Slumming It" is finally finally finished (Going on two years in production, wow!) and ready to read in the Cosmos.  New to us also is Rich Cale, who presents his first SilverHawks piece, "New Kidd on the Block."  And Brenna has fired up her drawing pencil this time, giving us a peek behind some very closed doors.  But it gets spicy, so consider yourself warned. (Don't worry.  We'll warn you again before turning up the heat, too.)

For the anime crowd, we have two new fics featuring Inu-Yasha bishounen (pretty boy) Sesshoumaru.  But what does a demon do when confronted by a perplexing miko?  The answer, and more questions, lie within "Other Anime"  at Anime Land.

Technical talk time now.  In the upcoming month, decisions will be made about the removal of fic, mostly from authors who have, for lack of a better explanation, dropped off the face of the earth.  If there's a fic out there from an author with no recent updates, and you want us to hang onto it, drop a quick note with the title, and it will be put on the "Spare me" list.  At the moment, webspace isn't an issue.  I'd just like to clean out the closet a little and set the moths free.  Or you can feel free to download said fic to your own computer, assuring hours of entertainment without any internet issues.  Just wanted to give everyone a heads-up in advance.  --LMH

February, 2003 -- "...And while with silent lifting mind I've trod, The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand and touched the face of God."   from "High Flight" by John Gillespie Magee, Jr.  Peace of the Lord to the Columbia Crew, their families and friends around the world.

This month's update features the return (with style) of Kristi Miller's fabulous art.  See them all  in Images By Kristi Miller.

Genesis is updated this month as well, as Stargazer is found, though not without difficulties.  And a certain hanyou has managed to garner our attention, as evidenced by "Everyday" and "Fire and Ice."  And the SDF-1 as managed to find a little space for representation as well.  Check them all out in the new "Other Anime" section of Anime Land.

That's it for this month.  Next month, look for more new art, hopefully, and maybe a new author as well.  --LMH

3 January, 2003 -- ADDENDUM -  Just a couple of notes, overlooked in the havoc of the holidays.  Kate R.'s new series, "Genesis," is up as the Mob takes on the Immortals and SilverHawks in a post-apocolyptic world.  And Vicious comes to some realizations in "Spiraling."  And did I ever mention that LRS finished "Bloodlines"?  It's a beautiful post-"Real Folk Blues" story of life going on.  Not to miss!

January, 2003 -- *TWEET!*  Happy New Year!  It's been a great year at the Shadowspace, with new friends, new fics, and new fan all around.

It's January again (duh) and that means the return of the Trannies!  Yay!  And while, to the best of our knowledge, either Lady Razorsharp nor myself has anything eligible, it's still a great way to see what else is out there in the TF world.

And speaking of R-chan, "On the Plus Side" is up and running again.  We're hoping for weekly updates, but of course, it depends on the stresses of Real Life.

On the SilverHawk's side, we have two great new stories.  Whisper is "A Woman Scorned" when Eliza takes up with Dragor again in  the Cosmos, and Steelheart gets in over her head in "Red Hawks and Silver Wolves" over in the Misadventures.

And Detia has pulled out the art supplies over the holidays, giving us a peek into Cherri's run-away romance with Kumo.  But it's quite an eye-popper, and we've put it with the mature images, so exercise caution.  Wouldn't want anyone scarred for life, after all. *smile*

That's about it for the moment.  See you again soon.  --LMH

December, 2002 -- A busy season, this it.  Thanksgiving just ending (I still have leftovers), Ramedan and Chanukah, now, and Christmas and New Year's still to come.  It would be nice to think that a little peace isn't too much to ask.

But peace certainly isn't in the cards for the Cosmos.  Dragor sets his sights on a conquest and goes after it in "Casualties."  Peace isn't the first thing on Vicious' mind either, in "Sleeping In Her Bed" or "Seeing Red."   Peace is elusive for our resident Vampire as well, when he finally confronts the descendant of his great enemy, Van Helsing, but some things are "Unexpected."  Tat'iana's drems of a peaceful marriage are threatened in "Do the Time Warp Part V: Time Share" and whole galaxies go up in flames in The War of the Demon Clan Pirates.  "Day 1" kicks things off with some shocking developments.

So 6 early goodies for our holiday season.  Be sure to check in again before Christmas, when the last minute gifts from our authors will be up.  Happy Holidays!  --LMH

November, 2002 -- How is everyone?  Recovering from the sugar-shock of All Hallow's Eve?  Getting ready to head into the Holiday season?  Me, too.

It's been a slow month for the authors, but never fear, there's always SOMETHING new in the Shadowspace.  This month, it's the Misadventures getting the lion's share of the attention.  Phantom's troubles with the SilverHawks continue in "Secrets and SilverHawks," and when disaster strikes, everyone has to do their share to pick up the pieces in "Dona Eis Requiem."  Fair warning, though.  "Requiem" contains character death, so if you're not ready for that, give it a miss for now.

Over in Anime Land, a great new show has caught our attention (extra-special thanks to Lady Razorsharp for finding this one) and a new Muse has taken up residence.  Come walk the night with a vampire in "Hellsing."

That's it for now, folks.  Catch you next time.  --LMH

October, 2002 -- Update time again, folks.  The months just go by faster and faster, it seems.

6 new fics in SH.  First, a big 'Hello' to new author Blackhawk.  For those of you who are regular visitors to New Hawk Haven, Blackhawk's not a new face, but rather an episode reviewer par excellance.  And now we present Blackhawk's first fic, "Shoot-Out at the Sini'Star Corral."  Next, the Misadventures Universe is filling out, with the addition of "Music and Lies," and "Quarantine."  In the first, the 'Hawks square off against Phantom, and in the second, Quicksilver and Phontom must work together when disaster hits Fense.  In the Cosmos, Quicksilver returns to Hawk Haven in "Coming Home" and has some serious thoughts about his future in "Late Night Talks."  Meanwhile, blessed events are popping up all over in "Baby Blues," but everything isn't coming up roses.

Lady Razorsharp has brought out the old sketchpad again, and the results are up in her Gallery.

Now, onto technical issues.  Two more banners are available on the Links page, aimed at our anime-fan friends.  And the Shadowspace Annex is now open.  The Annex is the new home of older pictures from the site, and it can be found at the Shadowspace's old Angelfire address.  Just click on the link above, and wander through all the old familiar faces.  Hopefully, this will free up more room for fic, while still keeping around our old favorites.

Keep in touch, folks, and we'll see you next month.  --LMH
